On August 13, a delegation from the Malaysian state of Perlis held a discussion with the Kunming Institute of South Asia and Southeast Asia International Logistics. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as improving the cooperation mechanism between think tanks and enterprises, and cooperation between the inland port of Perlis and the Kunming International Land Port.
Perlis Chief Minister Shukri said Perlis, located in northern West Malaysia, is a frontier for exchanges and cooperation with China, Indonesia, and Thailand. He said, “We hope to deepen cooperation with China in areas such as the digital economy and port infrastructure construction to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.”
Liu Jinxin, director of the Kunming South Asia and Southeast Asia International Logistics Research Institute, put forward suggestions on improving the cooperation mechanism among land port cities along the China-Laos Railway, developing international friendly city relations, and building a digital logistics channel base.
During the forum, the Kunming South Asia and Southeast Asia International Logistics Research Institute and the Malaysian state Perlis Pearl Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding on think tank cooperation to explore opportunities in developing the Kunming-Perlis Transport Economic Corridor. Representatives from China Communications First Highway Engineering Group, the Yunnan Supply Chain Association, and the Kunming International Finance Society also attended the forum.
It is reported that Shukri led a government delegation to visit Kunming from August 10 to 14. The delegation visited Tengjun International Land Port, Anning North Port of Kunming International Land Port, and China Railway Intermodal Kunming Central Station. They also held talks with the Kunming Municipal Government and entrepreneurs from Yunnan Province, engaging in in-depth exchanges on the development of international friendly cities and cooperation between the Glass Land Port and Kunming International Land Port.
